A home EV charger is a dedicated unit — usually mounted in the garage — that charges your electric vehicle far faster than a standard wall outlet.

The unit we install for homes is a Level 2 charger: it runs on a dedicated 240-volt circuit, the same kind of power as an electric dryer or range. Plug in when you get home, and the car charges while you sleep.

Level 2 Basics.

  • Much faster than a standard outlet. A regular 120-volt outlet adds range slowly — fine for a plug-in hybrid, slow for a full EV. Level 2 is the step that makes daily EV life easy.
  • Overnight charging. Most drivers plug in at night and wake up full. Charging while you sleep beats planning your day around a public charger.
  • Dedicated circuit. A Level 2 charger gets its own circuit in your electrical panel — it doesn't share power with the rest of the house.

Pairing with Solar.

This is the combination that makes it click: your roof makes electricity during the day, and your car can use it.

  • Charge from your roof. With solar on the home, daytime charging pulls from your panels — the same sunlight heating the driveway is filling your battery.
  • Size the system for the car. An EV adds real electricity use to a household. If you're adding a charger and solar together, we size the system for both — car included.
  • Already have solar? A charger can be added to an existing setup. We'll check that your panel and wiring have the capacity for the new circuit.

Installation Considerations.

  • Panel capacity. Your home's electrical panel needs room — and headroom — for a dedicated 240-volt circuit. A licensed electrician evaluates this during the site visit.
  • Wiring and placement. Distance from the panel to the garage or driveway matters for the run. We'll find the cleanest route.
  • Charger placement. Most homeowners mount the unit inside the garage near the parking spot; outdoor-rated units work for driveways.
  • Permits. Electrical work is permitted and inspected like the rest of the install — check local requirements, and we'll handle the paperwork.
